CANTILEVER BONE GRAFTS FOR NASAL RECONSTRUCTION

Abstract

|
Adequate support of nose is important in nasal reconstruction. Various kinds of materials have been used to provide skeletal supports to restore nasal contour. Metal, ivory, polyethylene, and silicone rubber have been employed. Also xenograft of bone and allograft of cartilage have been attempted, but have been resorbe and rejected. Superiority of autogenous bone graft in nasal reconstruction was recognized by reconstructive surgeon.
To acheve good support many methods were reported. Cantilever bone graft seems to be the good method for support in partial or total nasal reconstruction.
We used a method by cantilever bone graft ot reconstruct 5 cases of nasal deformities and this technique has provided good nasal support.
